23rd March 2016
We took 400 hives out to the Channel Country, an area known for its pollen-free environment in the winter. We provided 30 kg of Custom Bee Feed at each site, using the bag-hanging method on some sites and bucket feeders on others. What we witnessed was remarkable – within just 24 hours, the bees had consumed all 30 kg of feed!
One of the most immediate signs of the feed’s positive effect was how quickly the weak colonies became active and aggressive, indicating a surge in energy and health. This was the first of many positive results we observed.
12th April 2016
Due to the rapid consumption of feed in the initial trial, we brought out commercial feeders to handle the increased demand. We fenced off the feeders to protect them from animals and stocked 100 kg per feeder. At each site, the bees consumed an average of 60 kg of feed per day. Alongside the feeding, we harvested our first round of honey, which yielded excellent results.
4th May 2016 – After 6 weeks
Six weeks into the trial, we revisited the hives, and the results were astounding. Even the weakest hives, which we thought might not survive, had bounced back, showing significant improvement in brood strength and honey storage. Stronger hives were overflowing with bees, and the queen bees were laying exceptionally well. The bees continued to consume Custom Bee Feed at a rate of 100 kg per site every three weeks, finishing the feed in just three days. We harvested another round of honey from all sites.
1st June 2016 – After 10 weeks
Ten weeks into the trial, we harvested the third round of honey. Despite the bees working hard and continuously consuming feed, they remained strong and productive. The hives continued to thrive, and the results far exceeded our expectations.
